Canada Book Fund
The Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP) got a new name, Canada Book Fund! This is meant to reflect its growth to maturity. The Department of Canadian Heritage announced in Victoria on 22 September 2009, that it will be renewing funding for the Canadian book industry to the tune of $39 million per year over the next five years! For the publishers, this is truly delightful news.

A new Interactive Fund as well --jmax, Wed, 23 Sep 2009 12:16:25 -0700 reply
The name rationalization is interesting. We now have a Canada Magazine Fund, a Canada Media Fund (consolidating the older Telefilm and Cdn New Media Fund programs), a Canada Book Fund (which so far looks like BPIDP with a new name, tho time will tell), and, today, a Canada Interactive Fund. For the latter, see http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/Canadian-Heritage-1049121.html
