Final Tech Project Presentations April 16th
You're invited! We'll be wrapping up and unveiling the PUB607 Technology Projects on the afternoon of Friday, April 16th at 1:00 PM. Room 1800 at SFU Vancouver (aka Harbour Centre).
The Master of Publishing student cohort of 2010 enthusiastically invites you to the grand finale presentations of our Publishing Technology Projects for this year. We set out to do the impossible, and by April 16th, you'll see how we did it.
Each spring, the MPub cohort undertakes three applied research and development projects that explore innovation and novel solutions in digital technology for publishers. This year's projects include:
- consolidation and re-positioning of the Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing, the Thinkubator, and the MPub online workspaces in a new WordPress-based platform.
- the launch of nEWS, a prototype online Editorial Workflow System tailored to the needs of small cultural magazines and packaged as a free, easily deployable extension to a magazine's website.
- the launch of the Book of MPub, a multi-platform publication (web, print, & ebook) demonstrating an agile, web-first publishing workflow. Written, conceived, designed, and developed entirely by the MPub community.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your time and thoughtful contributions along the way, and we can't wait to show you what we've been working so hard on.
We also invite you to join us afterward (about 4:30) on the third floor for our end-of-term celebration and wrap party (and the launch of a children's book and yet another product of the MPub, Dragon Problems!)
Hope to see you there!
