CCSP - Thinkubator Wiki

HelpPage

(As of March 29, 2007, this information corresponds to Zwiki version 0.59.)

The Thinkubator is an example of a wiki--a collaborative website. The wiki format makes it simple for a cooperative group to communicate asynchronously. The wiki ideal is that anyone can add content edit, add comments, and make new pages on a wiki. It is said that wiki wiki means quick or fast in Hawaiian.

This site is running a particular kind of wiki software known as Zwiki (see the ZWiki site or ZWiki:ZwikiGlossary).

Editing

If you are a member of the Thinkubator, you have full editing rights to any page. But before you hit the "Save" button, please consider that anyone who can do a Google search might read your comments.

Instructions:

  • When you write a page name in wiki text, it automatically forms a link to that page (free-form names must be enclosed in square brackets). If that page does not yet exist, a question mark (?) will appear, which you just have to click when you are ready to create the page.
  • Add a comment using the form at the bottom of the page.
  • Click the “Edit this page” button to add to or change the page’s text. You may also rename the page, upload a file, or choose other options.

Formatting Rules (see also: QuickFormattingGuide)

When you save a page, Zwiki formats and links your text according to its standard rules.

  1. You must insert a blank line (hit the return key twice) to make paragraphs. (Lines of text (non-blank lines) will be run together to form a paragraph.)
  2. To make a heading, type a line of dashes immediately underneath. The line of dashes at least as long as the title itself.
  3. To make a bulleted list, begin each item with a hyphen followed by a space (- ).
  4. To make a numbered list, begin each item with a number followed by a space and a period (1. ).
  5. To make a sub-list within a list, indent again before the item.
  6. Enclose short text in one ... or two ... asterisks to make it italic or bold respectively.
  7. To make hyperlinks, you can use the form "http://bare/urls", a WikiName or [Free-form name] enclosed in square brackets (see ZWiki:RemoteWikiLinks). Note: if you don't want to create a link when a trade name is in camel case (e.g., Adobe PostScript), put an exclamation mark in front of it.
  8. To make a block quote, indent it after a paragraph ending with a double colon (::)

Keyboard Shortcuts

  1. ctrl-c lists the whole quasi-hierarchical contents of the site
  2. ctrl-r gives you recent changes
  3. ctrl-b tells you what other pages link to the one you're looking at
  4. ctrl-d tells you what's different in a page's most recent edit (and you can step backward from there)
  5. ctrl-u moves you to the 'parent' page of the page you're looking at
