A little bit about lesboots:
Raised in Calgary, AB, lesboots has spent the last five years in Victoria, BC completing a bilingual undergraduate degree in Canadian literature. She chose this program several years after high school, when it became apparent that life as a ski bum would probably not sustain her until retirement. Lesboots was not sure which career field she was ready to invest thousands of dollars of education into, so she opted to try something she was passionate about. Perhaps, she thought with crossed fingers, a career might appear at a later date.
As it turned out, life in Victoria suited lesboots very well. She even stayed there for another year after graduating because, she thought, perhaps the city was not quite done with her yet. As an avid scuba diver she often went sightseeing at 60 feet underwater, though on a post-student budget, “often” was never really often enough. When not working or hanging out on campus (which, due to a low-responsibility job at UVic?, were typically synonymous), lesboots was often found at sports bars cheering on her beloved hockey team, the Calgary Flames. Over the years in Victoria, she managed to recruit a handful of fresh Flames fans whose newfound loyalty was surprising and cherished.
Upon being admitted to the MPub program, lesboots said goodbye to her underpaying job and her comfortable community of Victoria to set out for the big city of Vancouver. Having been rocked out of her easygoing lifestyle with the rapid approach of new challenges and deadlines, she is adjusting with optimism at SFU.
